Church and Society Commission
CASC participates in community relations forum
The Revd Adrian Dorrian represented the Church and Society Commission and the Northern Ireland Community Relations Working Group at the Together: Building a United Community engagement forum in Dungannon on Tuesday, 20th September.
Mr Dorrian remarked: ‘The day was very encouraging. It provided an opportunity for individuals across the youth and community sector to engage with each other and, in many cases, share examples of best practice. It was very encouraging to see the Executive Office put children and young people at the centre of the discussions as a direct result of input at previous engagement forums. Most importantly, there was space during the day for the voices of children and young people to be heard. This is an important part of planning for the future in our community and indeed in our churches.’
Together: Building a United Community is the Northern Ireland Executive’s community relations strategy and the forums – organised by the Community Relations Council – provide an opportunity for government to highlight progress on the strategy and to gather views from civic society. The forums meet three times per year and the next event will take place in February 2017. More information is available at www.community–relations.org.uk
