‘Open Door’ ministry unveiled at Christ Church Londonderry
Christ Church Londonderry has opened to the public on a daily basis under its new ‘Open Door’ ministry. The initiative was unveiled informally in late June, when dozens of children from the Model Primary School visited the church along with their teachers.
‘Courage to Lament’ at Belfast Cathedral
Belfast Cathedral hosted Courage to Lament, an ecumenical service held as part of a Day of Reflection on Tuesday, June 21. The Day of Reflection was held on the longest day of the year, because, co–host the Corrymeela Community stated, there is no day that has not been marked by violence. Using the biblical practice of lament, the service offered a space to reflect on the conflict in and about Northern Ireland and on the future.
New garden of remembrance consecrated and gifts dedicated in Rathfarnham
Parishioners in Rathfarnham gathered on Sunday morning (June 26) to celebrate the completion of a trio of projects. Archbishop Michael Jackson consecrated the church’s beautiful new garden of remembrance and dedicated the new eco–boiler and video streaming system.
Commissioning services for lay readers
Readers play an important role in the Church in assisting clergy and parishes with preaching commitments. In recent weeks, several new lay readers have been commissioned by their diocesan bishops in Cork, Cloyne and Ross, Dublin and Glendalough, and Down and Dromore.
