Celebrating ordinary people who do extraordinary things
The Bishop of Derry and Raphoe has paid tribute to parishioners of Glendermott – past and present – who, by sharing their talents and gifts, have helped build the kingdom of God in their parish. Bishop Andrew Forster was speaking during a Service, on Tuesday evening, in Babington Hall, opposite Glendermott Parish Church, during which the hall was re–dedicated following an extensive renovation, and memorial gifts bestowed by families of people who had worshipped in Glendermott or socialised in the hall, were also dedicated.
Church’s Ministry of Healing marks 90th anniversary
The Church’s Ministry of Healing marked 90 years in the Church of Ireland at its annual Service of Thanksgiving and Gift Day on Saturday, 21st May. The service took place in the Church of St John the Baptist in Clontarf and was celebrated by the Rector and chair of Church’s Ministry of Healing: Ireland, Canon Lesley Robinson. The preacher was Archbishop Michael Jackson and during the service those involved in healer prayer renewed their commitment to the ministry of healing.
‘Seen to be Heard’ – a voice for those with secondary breast cancer
The wife of a Connor clergyman is spearheading a campaign for improved services for all those living with secondary breast cancer. A powerful photograph of Cheryl Graham, captured by her friend and fellow campaigner Jennifer Willis, highlights the impact of this incurable cancer and forms part of an exhibition which was recently on display at the Belfast Exposed Gallery in Donegall Street, near Church of Ireland House.
Positive reviews for Belfast Cathedral Choir’s latest album
Belfast Cathedral Choir’s second recording for Resonus Classics, which contains world premiere recordings of works by the contemporary composer, Philip Wilby, has just received two great reviews from the musical press.
Annual service for Cork LGBTI+ Awareness Week
Once again this year, St Anne’s Church hosted its annual service for Cork LGBTI+ Awareness Week on Sunday 22nd May. The service takes place around International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) each year. The service was lead by Diocesan Reader Alan Howe and the Rev. Steven Foster of the North Tipperary Methodist Circuit and Amach le Dia gave the address.
Service of Choral Evensong marks reopening of St Macartin’s Cathedral
The official reopening service for St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen has taken place, following extensive renovation works including the replacement of the Cathedral roof, complete internal redecoration, the refurbishment of the organ, and work in the grounds. A special service of Choral Evensong was held on Sunday, 15th May, when the Bishop of Clogher, the Rt Rev Dr Ian Ellis, officially reopened the Cathedral.
