The third Sunday of November is designated Disability Awareness Sunday in the Church of Ireland. This year it falls on Sunday 17 November and the focus for 2013 is on raising awareness around deafness and hearing loss alongside considering disabilities of every type at all times of the year.

Disability Awareness Sunday falls on Sunday 18 November. To mark it, two members of the Church’s Working Group on Disability, Audrey Tormey and James Clarke, spoke to Church of Ireland Press Officer, Paul Harron.
This has been a remarkable year in raising the profile and increasing public awareness of people with disabilities as sportsmen and women competed with total passion and commitment at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. There is, therefore, no better time than this to raise awareness at the local level of disability within the life of the Church
The third Sunday in November – 21/11/2010 - has been designated by the Archbishop of Armagh as Disability Awareness Sunday in the Church of Ireland.
At its meeting on 1st February last, the Working Group on Disability appointed Miss Judith McGaffin as Chairperson in place of the Rev Robin Harris, who has resigned from the group.
