Consultative Group on Disability

Consultative Group on Disability

The Consultative Group on Disability was established in 2018, to work with other committees and Church organisations, and advise dioceses and parishes, to promote awareness of and action on disability and inclusivity needs within the Church of Ireland.

The group’s priorities are:

  • to make people think beyond disability and towards access for all;
  • to make people aware of the legislation in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and outline the implications of the same; and
  • to make people aware of key issues involved in making sure properties are accessible.

Its role and remit follow on from that of the Working Group on Disability which had operated from 2005 with a focus on addressing issues concerning disability that affect the Church and to consider the implications of legislation in both jurisdictions.  Reports and articles produced through its work are available at this link.
