General Synod 2018 – HOUSEKEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Member’s Badges – Please wear your member’s badge throughout the meeting of the Synod.

Voting Cards – Please ensure that you have your voting card with you during the session.

Mobile Telephones – Members are reminded that mobile telephones must be turned off in the chamber when the Synod is in session.

Addressing the House – Please state clearly your name and diocese before addressing the House. Members wishing to speak are requested to go up the side aisles and wait at the seated area reserved for speakers until called.

Forms for Motions, Amendments, Requests for Information etc. – Forms for members to use when proposing motions, amendments, submitting requests for information, etc. are available on request from the Honorary Secretaries’ table and the reception area.

Synod Service – The service will be held in St Patrick’s Cathedral, at 10.30 am on Thursday 10th May. The collection will be in aid of Bishops’ Appeal. The Cathedral is a short walk from the hotel; buses will be running from the hotel to the Cathedral and back again after the service. As the service is an essential part of General Synod, members are encouraged to attend.

Synod Reception – members are invited by the Archbishop on behalf of the diocese to attend a reception on the evening of Friday 11th May in the Armagh City Hotel.

Cloakroom Facilities – A cloakroom is available in the hotel. Members are requested not to leave bags and coats in the main conference room as they may cause an obstruction in the event of an emergency.

Catering Arrangements – Tea and coffee breaks have been included in this year’s Synod timetable. Members are asked to contribute £2 towards the cost (contribution boxes will be available).
Lunch will be available at the following locations:
• A two course carvery lunch will be served in Fisher One; private room, for £13.50pp (main course, dessert & t/c)
• A carvery lunch will be served in the Callan Lounge; public area, for £8pp (main course, T/C) or £11pp (main course, dessert, T/C).
• Soup, Sandwiches, Tea & Coffee will be available for £7.25pp will be available in the Deli.
• Dinner is available in the Friary Restaurant between 6.30–9:30pm (pre–booking required).
• Event Tuck Shop will also be available in the Fisher Suite reception areas throughout the conference selling sandwiches, traybakes and snacks.

Display Stands – Members are encouraged to visit the display stands in the conference reception area.

Health & Safety – Please make yourself familiar with the locations of the fire exits in the main conference room.
