Principal Service

Collect One

O God,
who madest this most holy night
to shine with the brightness of his coming,
who is the light of the world;
Grant that we who on earth hail the brightness of his appearing
may rejoice hereafter in the light of his heavenly glory;
who with thee and the Holy Spirit,
liveth and reigneth, one God, now and for ever.

Collect Two

Eternal God,
who made this most holy night
to shine with the brightness of your one true light:
Bring us, who have known the revelation
of that light on earth,
to see the radiance of your heavenly glory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Set I

Give us, O God, such love and wonder
that, with shepherds and pilgrims unknown,
we may come to adore the holy Child, the promised King,
and with our gifts worship him,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Set II

All glory to you, gracious God,
for the gift of your Son,
whom you have sent to save us.
With the angels, let us praise your name,
and tell the earth his story,
that all may believe, rejoice, and proclaim your love:
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Set III

Set III should be used at some service during the season of Christmas.

Almighty God,
you gave us your only Son
to take on our human nature
and to illumine the world with your light.
By your grace adopt us as your children
and enlighten us with your Spirit,
through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Lord,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Post Communion Prayer

God our Father,
in this night you have made known to us again
the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Confirm our faith and fix our eyes on him
until the day dawns
and Christ the Morning Star rises in our hearts.
To him be glory both now and for ever.
