Dignity in Church Life Charter – information

In 2015, the General Synod as governing body of the Church of Ireland adopted the Dignity in Church Life Charter which articulates the Church’s commitment to harmonious relationships in Church life with reference to the Christian principles underpinning those relationships.

The General Synod also authorised the Representative Church Body to develop policies in support of the principles outlined in the Charter and to submit these to the Standing Committee for approval.

The Dignity in Church Life Charter and related policies can be accessed in the Parish Resources:People & Community section, or by clicking here.

The following presentation gives some background on the development of the Charter and policies. This presentation was made at a series of consultation meetings held with clergy and lay people in dioceses around Ireland during 2014, to inform them about the proposal to develop Church–wide polices guiding relationships in Church life and to seek their feedback.
