Appointment of Dean’s Vicar in Limerick City Parish
The Dean of Limerick and Rector of Limerick City Parish, the Very Revd Niall J Sloane, has announced the appointment of the Revd Bernadette (Bernie) Daly as Dean’s Vicar in the parish. The Dean added: ‘I look forward to welcoming the Revd Bernie Daly to Limerick City Parish and having her as a part of our team. Ms Daly brings a variety of gifts and experiences, both at central and parochial level, which I believe will be of great value to ministry here.’
The Revd Bernadette Daly was ordained in 1997 for the Parish of Taney. She has also served as Chancellor’s Vicar in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral (Dublin). From 2000 to 2005, she held the position of Director of Pastoral Studies at the Church of Ireland Theological College. She has served as Chaplain in the Meath & Adelaide Hospital, Tallaght; Saint Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin; and Trinity College, Dublin. She has also served in the Diocese in Europe.
Bernie was ordained as a mature ordinand, and brings to her ministry much experience and expertise from the world of publishing, from her work as a member of the Ethics Committee of the North Eastern Health Board, and from her long involvement with the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, of which she has been Vice-Chair.
On hearing of her appointment, Ms Daly said: ‘I look forward to getting to know the parishioners in Limerick City Parish and in sharing ministry along with the Dean and the parochial team.’
The Bishop said: ‘I’ve known the Revd Bernie Daly for many years now and I know she will bring a wealth of experience and wisdom to her new role in Limerick. It will be wonderful to have her as a colleague in the diocese.’
Ms Daly’s Service of Installation and Welcome will take place in Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick, on Sunday 6th September 2020 at 11.15am.
