A service of thanksgiving for the dedication and commitment of all who work in the front line of our healthcare system was broadcast from Taney Parish in Dublin on Sunday May 24.

Members of the parish who work in hospital and healthcare settings in the area were invited to take part. The rector, Canon Robert Warren, said that the service aimed to show appreciation for parishioners and all who work in the frontline at this difficult time and give thanks for their commitment.

Kara Sheppard, a nurse in St John of God community services, and Nimrah Dass, who is a nurse in the Mater Hospital, read the readings. Both thanked viewers for staying at home and staying safe to make their jobs a bit easier at this time.

Hilda Plant, a chaplain at St Vincent’s and Beaumont hospitals and Patrick Ryan, who is a chaplain at Tallaght and St James’s, both led prayers for peace, hope and thanksgiving.

Heather St Lewis who works as a physiotherapist, primarily with patients in cardiology and oncology, at the Beacon Hospital spoke to the curate, the Revd Nigel Pierpoint, about the dramatic changes that have taken place in her work as she now works in ICU with very ill patients.

Elaine Wynne who works in administration at the Beacon, led the singing of How Great Thou Art.
