Archbishops of Armagh: RTÉ Christmas Broadcast
The annual Christmas broadcast message from the Archbishops of Armagh, the Most Revd Dr Richard Clarke, and the Most Revd Eamon Martin, will be broadcast on RTÉ One television at 12.15pm and RTÉ Radio One at 1.00pm on Christmas Day.
This year’s broadcast will look at our shared responsibility for our environment and climate. The Archbishops will highlight the Great Green Wall and Laudato Tree initiatives, which involve planting trees and preventing desertification across 8,000 km (5,000 miles) in the Sahel region of Africa. The initiative is improving food security, and creating jobs and a better quality of life in communities for millions of people who live along its path.
The Archbishops yesterday planted a tree at St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral alongside students from the Royal School Armagh and St Catherine’s College who discussed their concern and hopes for the environment. A joint choir from the Royal School and St Paul’s High School, Bessbrook, provided music for the broadcast in the Cathedral.
