Cork Diocesan Youth Council asks young people to read Saint Mark’s Gospel before Advent
Cork Diocesan Youth Council (CDYC) has set up an exciting ‘Advent Challenge’ for the young people in Cork, Cloyne and Ross.
They are asked to follow reading programme that involves reading two chapters of the Gospel of Saint Mark each week over the next eight weeks.
Of course, it isn’t just a reading task! The young people then are asked to write a short 500–word piece on ‘What you have learned from the Gospel of Mark?’ and ‘Why Jesus Matters’.
There will be a prize of €50 for the best article followed by €35 for second place and €20 for third place.
A resource book called Fuel, produced by the Church of Ireland Youth Department, can be used in this challenge.
Copies of Fuel can be got form our Diocesan Youth Officer, Hilda Connolly, at dyo@corkchurchofireland.com
All entries must be returned to Hilda by 1st December.
For more information, please check out the CDYC Facebook page for a short video by Simon Henry (from the Church of Ireland Youth Department), explaining the challenge.
Simon Henry was also the guest speaker in Cape Clear this year and spoke on ‘Jesus Matters!’
