Statement by Bishop Harold Miller on proposed abortion legislation

A statement by the Bishop of Down and Dromore, the Rt Revd Harold Miller, in support of this morning’s call to action from the Church Leaders on proposed abortion legislation:

‘The right to life is paramount and its protection must be a higher priority than any other political issue.  The Church of Ireland affirms the fundamental principle of the value of all human life – before and after birth – and that every human being is made in the image and likeness of God.  It is the responsibility of all political parties to restore the Northern Ireland Assembly now so that the lives of both unborn children and pregnant women can continue to be safeguarded in law and through supportive pastoral and medical care.’
