Business Continues on Day One of General Synod 2019
The opening session of General Synod 2019 continues in the Millennium Forum, Derry/Londonderry. The Most Revd Dr Richard Clarke, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland welcomed members of Synod and the Synod’s ecumenical guests.
Guests this year include: Most Rev Brendan Leahy, Roman Catholic Church; Most Rev Donal McKeown, Roman Catholic Church; Very Rev Dr Noble McNeeley, Presbyterian Church in Ireland; Mr Alan Rowan, Presbyterian Church in Ireland; Rev W.A. Davison, Methodist Church in Ireland; Mrs Joan Doherty, Methodist Church in Ireland; Rev Brian Anderson, Irish Council of Churches; Moravian Church of Britain and Ireland; Mrs Valerie Morgan , Society of Friends; Canon Elizabeth Paver, Church of England; Greek Orthodox Church; and Cherubim and Seraphim.
The Ven George Davison (Hon Sec), made a number of procedural announcements.
Archbishop Clarke nominated Mr Lyndon McCann to be his assessor.
Motions 1 on the timetable was moved and passed. The Book of Reports 2019 was laid on the table along with Priorities News 2019 and the report and accounts of Incorporated Society. The Ven George Davidson (Hon Sec) presented the communication from the Record Committee. He then read communications, including communications from the records committee and communications from diocesan synods.
