Following on from last month’s latest presentation, featuring the particular story of the Ettagh lightning strike, the RCB Library’s service provider Informa has been working on further editions.

This week, the content of four more years’–worth of weekly newspaper was added meaning that the project to digitize and make freely available all of the archive content of this invaluable resource has reached the milestone of 80 years – with all editions between 1856 and 1936 fully and freely searchable to a worldwide audience here: bit.ly/2C8yqaS

In conjunction with the Editor and Board of the Church of Ireland Gazette, the RCB Library aims to complete the outstanding 70 years to 2004 (from which date it is available as an e–paper). Generous central church funding will allow for a further 20 years of editions to be added in coming months, but more support is needed to finish the job – ideally in time for the 150th anniversary of disestablishment in 2019.

Prospective sponsors of this final 50–year phase are invited to contact the Library, or consider making a donation to the Library Conservation Fund here
