New Rector appointed to Clones Group of Parishes
The Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd John McDowell, has appointed the Revd Roy Taylor as Incumbent of the Clones Group of Parishes. This includes St. Tighernach’s Parish Church in the centre of Clones as well as Killeevan, Currin and Newbliss churches in Co. Monaghan.
Mr Taylor was ordained for the Diocese of Blackburn and has served in the Church of England, as well as the Diocese in Europe and in the Diocese of Meath and Kildare in the Church of Ireland. He is a graduate from Oxford University’s Exeter College, York University and the University of Wales.
He was ordained a priest in the Church of England and served as a Vicar near Lancaster and then spells as Chaplain in Switzerland and Tenerife, and a translator and student in Krakow in Poland, and has most recently served as Rector of Julianstown Union in the Diocese of Meath and Kildare.
Through his studies and previous teaching profession, Mr Taylor is fluent in German, has good French and Polish and has basic Hebrew. His hobbies include travelling, walking and cooking. He has two sons, Daniel (28) and Dominic (26).
He says he is looking forward to his new incumbency in Clogher Diocese: “I have a deep care for building up relationships both in the church and local community.”
