Keeping Adults Safe training events
Adult Safeguarding is now enshrined in legislation and as a Church we must be aware of and adhere to the relevant guidelines.
The Safeguarding Board has developed the Adult Safeguarding policy for the Church of Ireland which was ratified at General Synod. Further to this, the Safeguarding Board has organised a series of Keeping Adults Safe training events to cover the essential requirements for Adult Safeguarding and to introduce the policy.
The schedule of events is outlined here along with booking details.
All clergy are requested to attend one of the sessions as this training is required to outline what will be required and how the policy will seek to protect adults at risk.
If a parish has a paid employee who works with adults who may be at risk, they can also attend.
If someone is unable to attend any of the sessions, then he or she must inform Dr Peter Hamill, Secretary to the Safeguarding Board, through the contact details below and a further session can be arranged later in the year.
Places at each venue are restricted to a maximum number and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
It is preferable that you attend an event in the jurisdiction where you are based. However, those near the border may only be able to attend event in the other jurisdiction. In this case, please note that the core material will be the same but the legislation will be different.
