The Revd Andrew Quill’s parishioners at Holy Trinity Parish, Dromore, Co Tyrone, may have noticed he has been walking more regularly in recent times as he prepares for a special project next week.

Mr Quill is undertaking a 76–mile walk from St Fin Barre’s Church, Carrickmacross, the most southerly parish in Clogher Diocese, to Templecarne, near Pettigo, the most northerly parish in the diocese, from Tuesday, 15th May to Saturday, 19th May.

However along the way, Mr Quill will be speaking at seven services along the route.
The walk is taking place in the days before Pentecost when Revd Quill and those accompanying him will be praying to God to renew and revive His Spirit across the diocese and beyond.

The walk is being completed under the theme: ‘Walk, Word and Witness for Fields of Life,’ as part of a project in which a team from Holy Trinity Parish is aiming to fund–raise £35,000 to help them construct a 50–bed dormitory for girls in Nyakagyera Church of Uganda Primary School which has 300 pupils enrolled in South West Uganda. They will be undertaking that project in the summer of 2019.

Mr Quill knows the country well, having spent some years on mission work there.

“We’d love for those who can to join us for part of the route and to join us at the services each day.

“We are focusing on a dormitory for girls because girls are at risk walking to school and they will be protected. It’s my idea to walk and raise money and finding something across the diocese for revival,” said Mr Quill who explained how his father, Canon Quill, walked for Church Army missions.

Mr Quill will be joined on the trip to Uganda by a team of around 12 people who will be undertaking the trip next year, including his 19–year–old daughter, Hannah, who was born in Kenya when the family lived in Africa while working on mission work.

Gordon Deazley, the team leader, said this will be Holy Trinity’s third mission trip to Africa through Fields of Life but in a different area of Uganda.
