Bible exhibition in Enniskillen

‘The Bible Comes to Life’ exhibition will be opened in St Macartin’s cathedral, Enniskillen, next Thursday and will continue until 11 March. Hundreds of schoolchildren have already booked to attend the exhibition which will be hosted by the Clogher Diocesan Board of Education. This unique exhibition returns to Enniskillen after 25 years and it is the only location in Ireland staging the exhibition during 2018.

The exhibition, which introduces an understanding of Biblical Jewish life, culture and religion and helps in understanding the roots of Christianity, will be attracting schoolchildren, youth groups and their leaders, churches and the public. Promoted by the Church’s Ministry Among Jewish People, an Anglican church mission society which has been active since 1809, the exhibition contains a significant collection of historic artefacts with the emphasis on exploring Judaism.

Entrance to the exhibition is free and it is open on Thursday, 8th March, and Friday, 9th March, 3pm–5pm and 6.30pm – 9.30pm; Saturday, 10th March, 9.30am – 5pm; Sunday, 11th March, 11am – 12.30pm (incorporating Morning Service) and 3pm – 7pm, followed by a closing service.

Today (Saturday) the Dublin & Glendalough Committee of the Church’s Ministry of Healing will host a Quiet Day beginning at 10.30 am in the Mageough, Cowper Road, Rathmines, Dublin 6. The leader will be the Rector of Clontarf, the Revd Lesley Robinson.

Tomorrow (Sunday) BBC Radio Ulster’s Morning Service will be broadcast at 10.15am from St Patrick’s church, Clonfeacle, which is situated in Benburb, Co. Tyrone. The preacher will be the Rector of Clonfeacle, Derrygortreavy & Eglish, the Revd Johnny McLoughlin. On RTE Television at 11.10am there will be a bilingual service at which the Bishop of Cashel, Ferns & Ossory, the Rt Revd Michael Burrows, will preside. The Revd Tony Murphy will preach, and will be joined by the Revd Trevor Sargent, Chairman of Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise, and the Revd Hazel Minion.The Trinity College Dublin Chapel Choir will sing.

From tomorrow (Sunday) the Revd Lorraine Capper will provide part–time stipendiary ministry for the parishes of Donagh, Tyholland and Errigal Truagh in the diocese of Clogher.

The Dublin and Glendalough Retired Clergy Fellowship will meet in Christ Church cathedral on Tuesday at 12.30pm. A celebration of the Eucharist will be followed by lunch and a discussion with the Revd Abigail Sines, Dean’s Vicar in Christ Church.

On Friday evening the Bishop of Meath & Kildare, the Most Revd Pat Storey, will institute the Revd Katharine Poulton to the incumbency of Julianstown.  Ms Poulton, who has been Dean of Ossory since 2010, succeeds the Revd Peter Rutherford who is now Rector of Kinsale. In St Peter’s Church, Kiltegan, at 7.30 pm the Bishop of Cashel, Ossory & Ferns will institute the Revd Robert Jones as Rector of the Kiltegan union of parishes in succession to Canon Stella Durand who has retired from the stipendiary ministry. Mr Jones has been Rector of St John’s, Malone, in Belfast from 2013.

The members of Affirming Catholicism will host a Quiet Day on Saturday 10 March in St Mary’s church, Navan, Co Meath. It will be led by Revd Grace Clunie, Priest in charge at Lisnadill, in the diocese of Armagh, and the Director of Celtic Spirituality in Navan. She is also a teacher and writer on Celtic Spirituality and will offer a quiet reflective day as in preparation for Easter. There is no charge but participants should bring a packed lunch.
