Weather kind to clergy in charity sit–out at Ballinamallard
The two charities supported this year are the Abaana Children’s Choir who visited Ballinamallard earlier in the year and Air Ambulance NI.
The weather was kind to this year’s charity sit–out in Ballinamallard where the Rector of Magheracross Parish in Clogher Diocese, Archdeacon Brian Harper, his fellow Minister at Magheracross, Revd Charles Eames, and the Minister of Ballinamallard Methodist Church, Revd John Beacom, collected donations for two charities.
The sit–out began at 8am Wednesday and continued until 8pm yesterday evening.
By mid–morning there was a steady stream of people handing over cash but Archdeacon Harper was expecting it busier between 4pm–6pm as local people made their way home from work.
Local businesses in the village were supporting the local clergy, providing a hot lunch and a carry–out supper supplemented by hot drinks and snacks from the church communities.
The two charities supported this year are the Abaana Children’s Choir who visited Ballinamallard earlier in the year and Air Ambulance NI.
Both charities have a special place in the hearts of the local clergy. The youth group in Magheracross Parish have sponsored one of the boys in the Abaana Children’s Choir and one of the helicopters belonging to the charity, Air Ambulance NI is stationed at Enniskillen Airport nearby.
