Candlelit Film Series at Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, presents its fourth series of candlelit film nights – Utopias/Dystopias – on Mondays in November and December at 6.30pm in the Music Room.  Admission is free and all are welcome.  No booking is necessary.

Monday 6 November

Lost Horizon (1937)

A classic Frank Capra directed exploration of the idea of utopia and science fiction fantasy introduced by Dr Conor O’Kelly of the Film Department in the School of Creative Arts, Trinity College Dublin

Monday 13 November

Forbidden Planet (1956)

The first film to be set entirely on another planet, introduced by Daniel Fitzpatrick, film writer and curator.

Monday 20 November

The Handmaid’s Tale (1990)

An earlier adaptation of the famous Margaret Atwood novel, introduced by Dr Jennie Carlsten of the Film Department, Queen’s University Belfast.

Monday 4 December

Gattaca (1997)

A vision of a future society driven by genetic engineering introduced by Professor David McConnell, Professor of Genetics, Trinity College Dublin.
