Meet Clare

Clare was born in Newtownards, Co. Down, and grew up in Movilla Abbey and St Mark’s Parish Church.

She studied Theology at Queens University Belfast from 2000–2003 and after graduation spent two years as a pastoral assistant in Knockbreda Parish under the leadership of the late Ven Philip Patterson.

Clare completed a Masters in Theology from QUB while undergoing training for ministry and in 2007 she was ordained. She spent her curacy in Donaghcloney Parish with the Revd Tommy Allen.

Clare was appointed Vicar of Shankill Parish, Lurgan, in October 2010.  She is married to Michael, who was born in Uganda, and they have two little girls – Anna and Esther.

Clare says: “Michael and I consider ourselves blessed to have been able to call Shankill Parish our church family for the past 7 years. We leave with many fond memories and lifelong friends.

“The call to The Church of the Hill in Maghaberry marks the beginning of a new season in our lives as a family of four and we look forward with anticipation to all that God has in store in the months and years ahead.”
