Class of ‘92 celebrate their Silver Jubilee
Eight members of the Church of Ireland Theological College class of 1992 recently gathered once more in the Theological Institute to mark the Silver Jubilee of their ordinations. Several others had hoped to be present but were unable to attend. At the invitation of the group, Canon John Bartlett, the principal when they were ordained, celebrated and preached at the Eucharist in the College Chapel.
Canon Bartlett, in a moving address, reminded the group that they were on a constant pilgrimage, and that if they saw everything the same way as they did 25 years ago, there was “something wrong”. The group gave thanks for their shared ministry, and remembered the two members of the class who had since died: the Rev. Ron Watts and the Rev. Adrian Gallagher. Following the Eucharist the group enjoyed a meal together in Rathgar and some took the opportunity to stay over and admire the greatly improved facilities at the Institute. Organiser Canon Susan Green (the only woman in the class!) said: “It was wonderful to renew old friendships and to meet up with whom we shared so much together. Many thanks to the current Principal (and former class member), Dr. Maurice Elliott, for his hospitality.”
