A Quiet Morning organised by the Bishop of Connor with guest speaker the Rt Rev John McDowell, Bishop of Clogher, was attended by 65 Connor clergy along with members of the diocesan team.

The morning was held in Jordanstown Parish Centre on Thursday June 15. In his two talks, Bishop McDowell, who is a History graduate, displayed the breadth and depth of his theological and historical knowledge.

He gave a detailed biography of 19th century Anglican Theologian William Archer Butler who challenged such luminaries as John Henry Newman. Bishop McDowell’s usual lightness of touch added great interest to what was a very informative morning.

The Bishop, who is President of the Irish Council of Churches, is a former curate of Antrim Parish and a former rector of Ballyrashane and spoke favourably of his time in Connor.
