Encouraging generous giving
‘For God so loved the world that he gave …’
Every week in the Church of Ireland, people give their time, their skills, their talents and their money to support the work of the Church. Without them, the Church’s mission and ministry would be much less significant. The new ‘Generous Giving’ resources available on the Parish Resources section of the Church of Ireland website provide help and guidance to equip parishes to nurture generosity.
Generosity should be encouraged as a central part of faith, worship and discipleship. As Christians, we worship a loving and generous God whose nature is to give freely, without measure, to the whole world. We give in response to a generous God who gave everything for us.
Encouraging giving in your parish can feel daunting, but it need not be so. Parish Resources provides guidance on small changes that can make a big financial difference to parishes, and resources and templates which are part of a step–by–step Generous Giving Programme to help parishioners reflect on their own giving and implement positive change to the mission and ministry of a parish.
