New HR Manager for Church House

The Representative Church Body has announced the appointment of Mary–Rose McLoughlin to the new position of Senior Human Resources Manager. Reporting directly to David Ritchie, Chief Officer and Secretary General, Ms McLoughlin will be based in Church House Dublin and is due to take up the role in early March.

Ms McLoughlin has extensive human resources management experience in both the public and private sectors in Ireland and abroad. She has held roles covering organisational development, change management, recruitment and selection, training, internal communications, child protection and general human resources management. Mary–Rose has over 15 years’ human resources experience working for organisations such as Schlumberger, GE Finance and most recently Bus Éireann. She has a degree in English and History, a postgraduate diploma in Law and a Master’s degree in Human Resources from the Smurfit Business School.

The role of Senior Human Resources Manager will be primarily focused on the development of the central Church organisation, and will also be involved in the development of people management resources for the wider Church

The Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd John McDowell, has announced several new diocesan appointments. The Revd John McClenaghan, Rector of the Aghalurcher group of parishes succeeds Canon John Stewart as Diocesan Registrar, and Mr Robert Forde succeeds Canon Stewart as Diocesan Glebe’s Secretary.  Mr. Brian Donaldson will take over the functions of Diocesan Communications and Diocesan Magazine Editor.

This morning (Saturday) at 11am in Gardiner Street church the annual Fr John Sullivan commemoration will be held. Archbishop Jackson will attend and Archbishop Martin will preach. In the evening the Irish Baroque Orchestra will perform works by Handel, Purcell and Vivaldi at 5pm in St Ann’s church, Dublin, and at 7pm in the Chapel of Trinity College, Dublin, Resurgam, directed by Mark Duley, will give a recital of chorales to celebrate the musical legacy of Martin Luther.

Tomorrow (Sunday) the Archbishop of Dublin in his role as Prebendary of Cualaun will be the preacher in St Patrick’s cathedral, Dublin, In the  afternoon there will be a ‘Come and Sing Evensong’ for local choirs in St Patrick’s cathedral, Armagh, followed by the Theo Saunders Memorial Organ Recital recital by David O’Shea in support of the choir endowment.

At 5pm in St Mary’s cathedral, Limerick, the Revd Professor Patrick Comerford, will be installed as the Precentor in the joint chapters of St Mary’s cathedral, Limerick, St Flannan’s cathedral, Killaloe, and St Brendan’s cathedral, Clonfert. Canon Comerford is Priest–in–Charge of the Rathkeale and Kilnaughtin Group of Parishes, Lecturer in Anglicanism, Liturgy and Church History in the Church of Ireland Theological Institute, and prospective Director of Continuing Education in Limerick and Killaloe. At the same service, a new Diocesan Guild of Readers will be inaugurated. The preacher is the Bishop of Tuam, the Right Revd Patrick Rooke.

The 3rd annual Celebration in Sport Service will take place tomorrow (Sunday) evening  at 7pm in Magheracross parish church, Ballinamallard. The event, organised by Ballinamallard United FC through their chaplain, the Ven.  Brian Harper, includes interviews with local sports people relevant to their faith. Fans and participants from local sports clubs, including cycling, soccer and GAA, have been invited to this community event.

On Thursday evening at 7.30pm in St Thomas’ church, Belfast, the Irish Chamber Choir will give a recital entitled ‘A Letter of Rights’ to mark 800 years of Magna Carta. The recital will be repeated on Saturday 25 February in St Mary’s cathedral, Limerick, and the following evening in Christ Church cathedral, Dublin.
