Lent Publications: ‘Lent with St John’s Gospel’ and ‘Week of All Weeks’

In advance of the start of Lent, the Literature Committee draws attention to publications which will be of interest and value to members of the Church of Ireland and indeed beyond.

Lent with St John's Gospel
Lent with St John's Gospel
Lent with St John’s Gospel authored by the Very Revd John Mann, Dean of St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, is available as a devotional aid. Published just last year by the Columba Press in an attractive hardback format, it comprises a series of 47 daily reflections (including Sundays and continuing right up to Easter Day) based on selected individual verses from St John’s Gospel.

Lent with St John’s Gospel is available at St Anne’s Cathedral Belfast and through The Book Well (www.thebookwell.co.uk E. info@thebookwell.co.uk T. +44(0) 7581143596) and the Columba Press (www.columba.ie).

Also available from Shrove Tuesday (17 February) this year are two new resources written by The Rt Revd Harold Miller, Bishop of Down & Dromore: a worship guide for Holy Week and Easter Day called Week of All Weeks and a prayer book of the same name to be read and used alongside it.

Bishop Miller says, ‘Holy Week and Easter are the most important days in the Christian year and tell the key story of our salvation, yet it has long troubled me why they don’t have the impact in our churches that they should have. The main reason for writing Week of all Weeks is to enable worship leaders and groups to think through how their celebration of these days might most powerfully and effectively tell the story. Celebrated well and thoughtfully, this week can lead the people of God into the deep joy and privilege of their salvation. I hope that the guide and the accompanying prayer book will be widely used in my own diocese and beyond.’
