Liturgical Advisory Committee

A Service of the Word for a commemoration of the First World War in a Local Church

The Liturgical Advisory Committee is continuing to work on a series of liturgical resources for use during this decade of centenary commemorations. They are offered as a Service of the Word so that the services can stand as a non–Eucharistic act of worship, or can be incorporated into a Eucharist where this is thought appropriate.

The most recently produced resource is A Service of the Word for a commemoration of the First World War In a Local Church. It has been posted on the Church of Ireland Worship page www.ireland.anglican.org/worship from where it can be downloaded and reproduced locally.

The LAC hopes that this will prove beneficial to those parishes wishing to commemorate the centenary of the start of World War 1 on Remembrance Sunday, or at some other appropriate time.

The Very Revd Gerald Field.
(Honorary Secretary, Liturgical Advisory Committee)
