Bishops' Appeal responds to the famine in the Horn of Africa

The Church of Ireland Bishops' Appeal has given a grant of £20,000 in response to the worsening famine situation in the Horn of Africa.

The grant has been made to assist the continuing relief work of Christian Aid who have been aware of the crisis since last year and have already made over £400,000 available to partner organisations in Ethiopia. Christian Aid is supporting partners such as the Ogaden Welfare Society in their feeding programmes.

Further response to the famine is dependent upon contributions from parishes.
