PRIORITIES FUND ALLOCATES £100,000 FOR RECONCILIATION AND OUTREACH PROJECTS
To encourage those engaged in the vital and important work of 'reconciliation and outreach', the Priorities Fund Committee has decided to allocate £100,000 for projects in this area for the next 3 years. This will enable groups to have 'seed-money' to begin and continue projects which reach out into the community at large and promote understanding among people from differing religious, cultural and political backgrounds.
The projects which have been awarded funding in this year for the 3 years 2001-2003 are Derry and Raphoe Action - £15,000, Kill O'the Grange Parish, Dublin - £7,500 for a cross border project, Sixmilecross and Termonmaguirke Parishes, Armagh - £15,000 for an annual community festival celebrating divided cultures, Sydenham Parish, Belfast - £21,000 to tackle social and community problems in East Belfast and the 'Think Again' project of the Diocese of Down and Dromore - £36,000 which seeks to renew the Church in its outworkings in the parishes of the Diocese.

YOUTH WORK RECEIVES £45,000
In consultation with the Church of Ireland Youth Department, the Priorities Fund Committee has allocated £45,000 for youth ministry in the Church for 2001. It has been decided that 30-50% of this funding (in consultation with CIYD), will be for projects at a diocesan and parish level, the balance being allocated for CIYD's own projects.
TELLING THE GOOD NEWS
In order to promote the work of the Priorities Fund, the Committee has decided to commission a plaque which indicates that a project has received funding from the Priorities Fund of the Church of Ireland. These will be distributed to projects which have received significant funding from the Priorities Fund over the past 21 years.
It has also been decided that projects which receive ongoing funding will be required to indicate in their literature, publications, press releases and at any official launch of the project, that funding has been received from the Priorities Fund.
The good news is that over 6.5 million pounds has been raised and distributed by the Church of Ireland to many different projects for whom it has made a significant contribution. In order to promote The Priorities Fund, the news and the story is worth promoting and telling.
GENEROUS BEQUEST
The Priorities Fund would like to acknowledge with gratitude the receipt of over £21,000 from the estate of the late Mr James Hughes, Enfield, in the Diocese of Meath. We are always pleased to receive such bequests which enable the Priorities Fund to allocate nearly 100% of the funds raised each year and use the invested income to help defray our minimal administrative costs.
EARLIER DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING
In order to enable the publication of allocations from the Priorities Fund to be printed in the current year edition of the Book of Reports presented to General Synod, it has been decided to make the closing date for the receipt of applications for funding the 30th November each year from 2001. This will enable the Committee to allocate funding in February with a final decision from the Standing Committee in March.
