Bishop Paul Colton celebrates and reflects on quarter–century of service

The Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, the Rt Revd Dr Paul Colton, has in recent months been celebrating 25 years since taking up his role.  In this extended video interview, Bishop Colton talks through his tree–planting pastoral visits to schools around the diocese and the importance of serving people seeking refuge in Ireland as well as people whose families have lived in Ireland for longer.

The diocese’s refurbishment of homes for 14 families from Ukraine forms part of centuries of charitable service to help those who need housing or financial assistance.  He also looks back over 40 years of ordained ministry to date, on both sides of the border, and the changes brought by technology and social media.

“All of my highlights are to do with people and being with them,” Bishop Colton remarks.  He was elected as Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross in January 1999, succeeding Bishop Roy Warke, and consecrated in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, in March of that year.
