Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise has announced that Canon David Oxley will celebrate An Chomaoineach Naofa/Service of Holy Communion in the Lady Chapel of St Patrick’s cathedral every first Saturday of the month, beginning on Saturday, 4 November 2023, at 11.05 am.  To have a regular Service in Irish, in St Patrick’s cathedral, is a great benefit to all the people of Dublin and surrounding areas, who wish to worship in Irish. The Cumann is grateful to Dean William Morton for his support and enthusiasm, and to Canon Oxley for his generous commitment. Le fíor–bhuíochas don mbeirt acu.

The Cumann has also announced the availability of the new edition of An Chomaoineach Naofa/Holy Communion bilingual book, which has been out of print for some time.  This new edition has been typeset by the Revd Alan Rufli and amended to bring it in line with the conditions of the Liturgical Advisory Committee. The Patron, of the Cumann, the Rt Revd Michael Burrows, Bishop of Tuam, Limerick & Killaloe, has written an introduction to the book, and he received first copies of the new edition at the Tuam, Limerick & Killaloe Clergy Conference.  It retails at €20 a copy, including postage.  Orders can be placed with Dr Rita Kelly (gaeleaglais22@gmail.com).  There is a generous discount on multiple numbers in an order.

Tomorrow (Sunday), at 11am,  the Archbishop of Dublin will preside at Choral Matins to celebrate the tercentenary of  St Ann’s church, Dawson Street, where the rector is Canon Paul Arbuthnot.

In Dublin, St Philip’s church, Milltown, are hosting their annual Art Sale Exhibition starting on Thursday and continuing until Sunday 5 November at the Parish Hall, Temple Road, Dartry. The catalogue will be available on–line from 2pm on Thursday at https://sandford.dublin.anglica.,org

On Friday evening the Archbishop of Dublin will attend the Bartholomew Mosse Memorial Lecture and Charter Day Dinner at The Rotunda Hospital.

The Revd Canon Maurice Elliott and Dr Kerry Houston have visited Hong Kong to attend celebrations to mark the 180th Anniversary of the Foundation of Sheng Kung Hui (Holy Catholic Church) in Hong Kong) and the 25th Anniversary of the Inauguration of the Province of HKSKH in the Anglican Communion. Dublin University Far Eastern University Mission has been supporting educational exchange programmes between Hong Kong and Ireland and is re–establishing links after the Covid pandemic.

Christ Church cathedral, Dublin, is offering an unparalleled opportunity to girls aged 10–16 to take part in the annual celebration of beloved charity Peata Pet Therapy.They will form the celebration choir for the carol service enjoyed by people and animals alike. Over the course of four weeks, they will take part in intensive rehearsals lead by experienced vocal professionals, learn valuable transferrable skills, and make new friends. Rehearsals will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, 5–6 pm at Christ Church cathedral, starting on Monday 13 November, culminating with a carol service at 1.15pm on Tuesday 12 December. To register an interest and receive a time–slot, please complete the Google form, which is available on the cathedral website. Participants in the ‘Big Sing for Peata’ will be prioritised in consideration for permanent membership of the Cathedral Choir.

The Dean of Limerick, the Very Revd Niall J. Sloane, has announced the 2023 Cathedral Community Awards Scheme. The Awards Scheme, which was established in 2018, hopes to highlight the ‘unsung heroes’ of Limerick and will awarded in February 2024. Nomination forms are available from the Cathedral Office until the closing date of 30 November 2023.
