Bishop Storey interviewed for ‘Finding Brigid’ documentary

Bishop Pat Storey has been interviewed for Finding Brigid, which was broadcast on RTÉ One television yesterday evening (Tuesday, 31st January).  Presenting the programme, Siobhán McSweeney searches for the real Brigid as Ireland prepares to mark its first public holiday dedicated to a woman – the island’s best–known female saint.

“I see it as continuing her spreading of the Gospel of Christian faith,” Bishop Storey remarked.  When asked about her present–day role as Bishop of Meath and Kildare, she added: “You bring representing 50 per cent of the population and so my experience of being a women, and as it happens a wife and a mother, obviously feeds into my Christian faith and my Christian witness.”

Finding Brigid can now be watched again on the RTÉ Player at this link.

St Brigid’s Day is today and the first St Brigid’s public holiday will be celebrated next Monday, 6th February.  The public holiday will be on the first Monday in February, except where the feast day happens to fall on a Friday, in which case that day will be a public holiday.
