Training and funding opportunities to promote good mental health
The MindMatters COI team wishes to highlight three opportunities to better equip members of the Church of Ireland, across our island, to help themselves and others with their mental health.
1. Mental health awareness training
MindMatters COI training is continuing to take place with over 300 people having attended training so far, including the entire House of Bishops. Delivered by our partners Action Mental Health, further online training will take place on:
- Monday, 25th July – 11am
- Tuesday, 26th July – 11am
- Wednesday, 27th July – 7pm
- Wednesday, 10th August – 7pm
Booking is now available through our website. Please email the project team at mhp@rcbcoi.org with any queries you may have regarding the training.
2. Seed funding
A reminder that dioceses and parishes are invited to apply for seed funding for local mental health promotion initiatives. The closing date for applications is Friday, 29th July 2022. This is an exciting opportunity to apply for funding, large or small, to organise an event, project or conversation around mental health.
All that is needed is to complete the application form and make sure that it is signed by someone who has attended the MindMatters COI mental health awareness training, run by Action Mental Health. If you need a hand, the team are happy to help. Forms are available on our website at this link.
3. safeTALK and ASIST training
safeTALK and ASIST are internationally recognised suicide intervention programmes which are also being offered to clergy, MindMatters COI Champions, and anyone else who is interested in mental health. If you, or anyone connected to your church or ministry, are interested in attending either or both of these programmes, please email mhp@rcbcoi.org – noting whether you live in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.
