Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh
A Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen will be held at 8.00p.m. on Thursday, 2nd June 2022 in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh. The preacher will be the Right Reverend the Lord Eames OM. Senior clergy from Churches in the Armagh area will join in worship with civic and political representatives and members of the public, who are warmly invited to attend the event. Following the service, a Jubilee Beacon will be lit in the grounds of the cathedral to mark the 70 years of service given by The Queen during her reign.
The Dean of Armagh, the Very Reverend Shane Forster, said, ‘The Hill of Armagh is the site of St Patrick’s ‘great stone church’ and the burial place of a High King. It is therefore an appropriate location for a service to give thanks for the seventy years of public service given by Queen Elizabeth II, a reign which has been underpinned by Her Majesty’s strong Christian faith. We will also pay tribute to The Queen’s commitment to peace and reconciliation on this island as we commit ourselves afresh to serve our community with love and respect for all.’
