Antrim Rural Deanery cycle raises £5,000
A sponsored cycle around all the churches in Antrim Rural Deanery, Diocese of Connor, has raised a whopping £5,000 for Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke.
The event, held on Saturday September 4, was organised by David Holmes, Parish Reader in St Bride’s Parish Church, Kilbride.
Entitled L’Etape du Deanery, the cycle ride started and finished at St Bride’s near Doagh and following a route which took the cyclists to all 14 churches in the rural deanery.
At a recent cheque presentation, the cyclists handed over £5,000 to the NI Chest, Heart and Stroke charity at Kilbride.
David said: “I was overwhelmed by the generosity of so many people in the various churches in the rural deanery and my thanks must go to them for their practical and financial support, making this event so worthwhile in supporting a local charity.”
