‘Carols by Carlight’ in Glencraig

In place of their traditional Nine Lessons and Carols, Holy Trinity Glencraig, held a ‘Carols by Carlight’ on Sunday 20 December 2020.

The rector, the Revd Catherine Simpson, led the service from the church gates and the parishioners tuned into the readings and carols on their car radios. Each car received a pack with a couple of LED candles and some celebration chocolates!

Carols by Carlight was a first for the parish and was well supported with 27 cars lining up in the car park.

Catherine said: “It’s not often I am lost for words but the beeping of horns and flashing of lights at the end of the service signalled the great joy that was felt by all as we celebrated the birth of Jesus.

“Regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in this year, let’s choose to celebrate the Good News of the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, who grew up, died (and was raised to life!) for you and me.”
