Hard Gospel - About Us - Philip McKinleyProject Officer (Dublin based)

Philip has a degree in Theology from Trinity College Dublin and a Radio Broadcasting Certificate from the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology. Before coming to work for the Hard Gospel Project he worked in the Representative Church Body (Synod Services), and also in organ building.

As Dublin-based Project Officer he focuses on three issues which have transformed the Republic of Ireland in the past 10-15 years: the Peace Process, Economic Growth and Immigration.

Concerning the Peace Process, Philip has completed a cross-community ‘Living With Diversity’ course in Newcastle, Co Down. He has organized a seminar with one of the organizers of the Love Ulster Rally on ‘Sectarianism in the Republic’ and has interviewed GAA President Nickey Brennan on the issue of Protestant participation in the sport.

Addressing economic growth Philip has organized a seminar on ‘Life in the Commuter Belt’ with the Dioceses of Meath and Kildare. On the issue of immigration, Philip is a member of the All-Ireland Churches Consultative Meeting on Racism, the Churches Asylum Network, the Discovery Committee in Dublin and Glendalough, the Armagh Diocesan Working Group on Migration and the Parish-based Integration Project. He has also worked closely with African-led churches, particularly the Redeemed Christian Church of God, speaking at their Festival of Life in the Point Theatre Dublin. He has also organized a number of consultations on immigration throughout the Dioceses of the Church of Ireland which culminated in a National Conference on Immigration in January 2008.
