Representative Church Body Records

Following the disestablishment of the Church of Ireland under the terms of the Irish Church Act of 1869 the Representative Church Body was incorporated by charter in 1870 to hold in trust the real and movable property of the Church of Ireland.

The reports of the Representative Church Body and its committees are published annually in the Journal of the General Synod. The Journal is supplied to British and Irish copyright libraries and is available for consultation in the RCB Library. Researchers intending to use RCB records should consult the Journal in the first instance.
