Regulations for Readers of Archives & Manuscripts
- Photography is NOT permitted without prior permission.
- Cameras and scanning equipment are prohibited in the reading rooms unless prior permission has been obtained from the Librarian & Archivist
- Permission to reproduce archives and manuscripts must be sought from the Librarian
& Archivist in advance in writing
- Pens are
NOT permitted in the reading room and pencils only must be used
- Readers may not trace from, write on or in any way deface or damage archives and manuscripts
- Readers may not lean on or unnecessarily handle archives and manuscripts. Reading stands or document pillows should be used if necessary
- Collections of loose papers should be returned in the order they were delivered to individual readers
- Readers may not remove archives or manuscripts from the reading rooms
- Readers should inform a member of staff when they have finished using materials
- Archives and manuscripts will NOT be delivered to readers after 12.30
or 4.30pm.
- Smoking is not permitted in the Library
- Food and drinks are not permitted in the reading rooms
- Mobile phones MUST be placed on silent and all calls MUST
be made/received in the Library lobby
- Readers will leave the reading rooms in a tidy fashion
- To facilitate staff all readers are expected to vacate the reading rooms by 12.30 or 4.30. Please alert staff before you leave.
Failure to comply with the above may result in expulsion and exclusion from the Library
Readers should note they are under camera and staff surveillance at all times
