Last Tuesday (4th August), a massive explosion ripped through Beirut, killing 157 people, injuring 5,000, damaging 50% of the buildings and leaving 300,000 people homeless.

The latest newsletter from Bishops’ Appeal highlights how donations from members of the Church of Ireland are helping vulnerable people, and their communities, to survive during the current pandemic.
In the light of the global Covid–19 pandemic, Bishops’ Appeal – the Church of Ireland’s World Aid and Development Programme – is releasing a total of €50,000 to five key partner mission and development agencies to support their efforts among the world’s most vulnerable people.
In response to the continued desperate needs of the survivors of Cyclone Idai in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi, the Church of Ireland Bishops’ Appeal is releasing a further €10,000 to support the relief efforts.

Bishops’ Appeal is acting as a conduit for funds for emergency relief efforts but we would urge parishes and individuals not to divert Harvest giving.
It’s now time now to send on the funds raised through Jars4Journeys so that Bishops’ Appeal can support three community initiatives building resilience and combatting climate change around the world.
