The ordination/consecration of the new Bishop of Tuam, Richard Henderson, will take place in St. Patrick's Cathedral, Armagh on Monday 2 February 1998 at 2.30pm, the Feast of the Presentation.

He is at present Dean of Ross (Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross) and succeeds Bishop John Neill who is translated to Cashel.

The Archbishop of Armagh, the Most Rev Dr. Robin Eames will preside, as the Dioceses of Tuan, Killala and Achonry (while being the Republic of Ireland) are in the ancient province of the North of the Church of Ireland.

The Presenting Bishops will be:

The Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, The Rt. Rev RA Warke, BA, BD

The new bishop takes up office at a time when a review of the boundaries of the Church of Ireland is in progress. Although Tuam is the smallest (numerically) diocese in the Church of Ireland, the witness is strong.

Dean Henderson is aged 40 and is married to Anita. They have three children, Cicely (9), Pippa (7) and Jack (5).
