As the Church of Ireland prepares to receive the third revision of the Book of Common Prayer four members of the Liturgical Advisory Committee have written essays describing in highly readable form the books that precede the 2004 edition and something of its coming about.
These essays give an insight into the way the worship and devotional life of Irish Anglicans has been formed over four and a hald centuries.
BCP 2004 editor, Canon Brian Mayne, said: “All four writers have a well of knowledge and I am delighted to have been able to draw from it and in an inexpensive booklet share that knowledge with a wider audience”.
The writers are Bishop Richard Clarke, Canon Edgar Turner, Canon Michael Kennedy and Canon Brian Mayne, who has also edited the booklet.
