Ybother

St. Fin Barre's Cathedral
Saturday 3rd February 2001

On Saturday February 3 2001 St Fin Barre's Cathedral will buzz with sound as 240 young people (aged 10 -15) from all over the diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross will gather there for an evening of fun, food, chat and listening. The evening is entitled 'Ybother', and is the first event of a new diocesan youth initiative.

Special guests have been invited, including Brian Crowley MEP, a Christian Rock group from England and the young conjurer and ventriloquist Bertie Pearce. Food will include Spicey Wedges, and will be 'brill'.

These young people have one thing in common, each has been confirmed by Bishop Paul Colton and each received an invitation to the event from him. He looks forward "to listening to them and getting to know them better as members of our church."

According to Canon Paul Willoughby from Bantry, Chairman of the Diocesan Youth Initiative, the aim of the evening is to get young people from different parishes meeting with each other on occasions such as this in hope "that they contribute to building a more inclusive and loving relationship between young people and their church."

The Golden Angel may well wish she could hop down from the roof and join the 'craic'!
