On Tuesday night, 30 October 2001, at 8.00pm an ALL SAINTS'/ALL SOULS' TIDE SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE FOR VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE will be held by the Belfast Cathedrals' Partnership in St Anne's Cathedral.

The service will commemorate those who lost their lives in the events of September 11th in the U.S.A., and those in Ireland over the past thirty five years.

Seven candles of remembrance will be lit by people representing the medical and emergency services; the security forces; children; Irish men and women including the families of the disappeared; and the victims of the U.S.A. atrocities.

Those lighting the candles include Des Browne MP, from the Northern Ireland Office; Eric Green of the US Consulate; Belfast Deputy Lord Mayor, Hugh Smyth; Desney Cromie of Treetops - a children's bereavement group; Michael and Angela McConville; Michael McAtamney, former Assistant Chief Constable RUC and Professor Aires Barros De Sa.

An eighth candle of hope 'a Christ Light' will be lit by Joyce Williams, of the Corrymeela Community.

The Choristers of St Anne's Cathedral, and the Diocesan Boys' Choir from St Peter's Cathedral, will lead the worship.

Monsignor Tom Toner and Dean Houston McKelvey in a joint statement said, "Everyone is welcome at the service and especially the families of the victims. We hope this service helps heal deep wounds and bring hope for the future."
