ARCHBISHOP EMPEY TO PREACH AT ECUMENICAL SERVICE IN DUBLIN'S PRO-CATHEDRAL FOR NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING

12th September 2001

The Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Reverend Dr Walton Empey, will give a short address at an Ecumenical Service at 11.00 am in Dublin's Pro-Cathedral on Friday,14 September, 2001, the National Day of Mourning for all who suffered in the American atrocities.

President Mary McAleese, An Taoiseach, Mr Bertie Ahern, TD, and members of the Government will be present.

Cardinal Desmond Connell will preside. Representatives of the different Christian traditions have been invited to participate. Amongst those involved in planning the service is the Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, the Very Reverend John Paterson.
