To mark his appointment to the College of Cardinals there will be a Liturgical Reception for Cardinal Desmond Connell  at Christ Church Cathedral on Thursday, 28 June, 2001, at 7.30 pm.

It will be hosted by Archbishop Walton Empey, Dean John Paterson, and the Chapter and Board of the Cathedral.

During the service Archbishop Empey will greet the Cardinal who will then respond. Together they  will lead the Nicene Creed, common to both traditions, and prayers will be said for the city and its churches.

A distinguished congregation led by Dublin’s Lord Mayor, Alderman Maurice Ahern, is expected.

Members of all Churches are welcome to attend.
