VIGILS IN THE PARISHES OF THE AMERICAN EMBASSY AND AMBASSADOR'S RESIDENCE

12th September 2001

On Wednesday 12 September 2001 as a mark of sympathy for the American people there will be an all-day vigil in St Brigid's Church, Main Street, Castleknock, starting at 9.00 am and finishing at 9.00 pm.

There will be a special ecumenical service in the church at 8.00 pm led by the Rector Revd Andrew Orr, Fr Eugene Kennedy, Laurel Lodge and Fr Diarmuid Connolly, PP Castleknock.

Revd Andrew Orr said, "This appalling tragedy has shocked the entire world community. As the American Ambassador's residence is in Castleknock Parish we feel we want to share a sense of solidarity and prayer with the American people and with those Irish people who have suffered as well."

To facilitate those who wish to offer prayer for the dead, the bereaved, the injured, the fearful and the worried, the emergency services and the U.S. Government, the Church will be open to coincide with people travelling to and from work:

7.30am - 9.30am
1.00pm - 2.00pm
5.30pm - 6.30pm
