Preaching at the service of re-dedication and reopening of St Peter's Parish Church in Drogheda the
Archbishop of Armagh, Dr Eames, paid a warm tribute to the support the
Church of Ireland in the town had received from the whole community.
The Church was extensively damaged by fire two years ago and the Appeal
Fund which was launched has received overwhelming support.
Dr Eames said:
"The quality of the support we have received from all traditions
speaks so clearly of the very best relations in this community. It
is an example of the understanding and mutual support Ireland is capable
of - and an example to the whole island of what is possible when we have
mutual respect and care for each other. If that degree of respect
and care could be exhibited in all parts of our island home what a
difference it would make." |
