Michael Marshall has immense experience both as an academic, parish clergyman and Bishop.  He graduated from Christ’s College, Cambridge and Cuddesdon Theological College.  After a period of six years as vicar of All Saints’ Church, Margaret Street, London, he became Suffragen Bishop Woolwich in 1975 where he remained until 1984.  In that year, he became the founding Episcopal director of the Anglican Institute in St. Louis, Missouri.  During the following eight years, he travelled widely across the United States and Canada preaching, lecturing and broadcasting at Mission Centres of the Anglican Institute across North America.

He has played with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.  In 1990 he played the Double Mozart Piano Concerto with Raymond Leppard and has given numerous recitals and concerts in the UK, the USA, South America and in Africa.

In 1992 he returned to the UK to head, with Canon Michael Green, the Springboard Initiative set up by the Archbishop of Canterbury for the Decade of Evangelism.  In 1997 Bishop Marshall was appointed Assistant Bishop of London based at Holy Trinity, Sloane Street.  In that capacity he travels widely around the world lecturing, preaching and conducting a variety of forms of mission activity.

The Bishop has published many books, some of the most notable being:

  • ‘Restless heart:  Life and Influence of St. Augustine’

  • ‘Renewal in Worship’

  • ‘The Gospel Conspiracy’
